It's when you send messages back to others, not make a new message to someone else which goes in the Outbox ...so when you reply to a message, it will go in the Sentbox .iPod Wizard

I have had the same problem. I believe that everyday if you have even a read on in there it will tell you it is new and to go there. but im not sure.
