I registered a domain at smokyhosts last saturday and paid in full at about 8pm. What I am asking here is how long will I have to wait for my domain to be active?

Hi,
Thanks for registering it with us.
Usually the domain names get activated almost instantly or max within 3 hours. But if you have registered a .us or a .info domain name it may take upto 6hours to 24hours to get activated and if registered for more than 2 years then may take a couple of days to get activated as it has a different procedure to be followed which takes some time.

Ok I have waited and finally I got an e-mail to say that the registration is failed!?

Reason for Failure: Reason for failure not available
I was trying to register a .info domain for 10 years....

I was trying to register a .info domain for 10 years....
I have sent you a email accompanying the reason for the failure from the systems end. Currently to take advantage of the $1.99 per year offer for .info domain names you will have to register only for 1 year. The rest of the duration will be billed at a rate of $8.99 years, that makes it $1.99x1+$8.99x9=$82.90 whereas your payment doesnt match that amount. Further details have been mentioned in the email, please checkup.
