Ok well these are some suggestions to help you get some new members to your forum.

1) Advertise a lot.
- Put your url in your signature, on the front page of your forum, put keywords that might interest people that are searching on google.

Recommend sites to advertseon:

http://ifsz.com
http://forums.bizhat.com
http://gamerenders.com
http://s11.invisionfree.com/Advertis...m_V2/index.php

If you have a tutorial section for your site, i would suggest submitting tutorials to:

http://pixel2life.com/ and http://good-tutorials.com/

By doing this you can increase your traffic dramatically.

For my site I got 150 - 200 unique hits a day (until I quit working on it) and non came from search engines as I was unlisted. My forum has (I am in the process of starting over so I can still say has) :) 97 members. Although most of them don't post... Anyway, most if not all of my hits came from top site lists and affiliates. Top site lists got me going and I made a huge success out of my website. Also if you make templates submit them to websites like zeroweb.org and freewebtemplates.com. I have one template (you may have heard of the Green Machine template) that has had over 15000 downloads because of this. It will drive traffic to your site and I strongly recommend it. :)

what about trying to make the content worthy ?

i found this to be the key

you dont need advertising in every situation, and for sure advertising only cant guarantee lots of members
