WinDVD is just regular and doesnt have many advanced features but there's not many others that i know of so i'd go with WinDVD also.

I got powerDVD when i bought my 2nd cd/dvd burner and i am very pleased with it i also have windvd and in my opinion they are very simmilar so use the one you like

WinDVD bothers me because (on my computer at least) it ALWAYS remembers where you left off--i.e. when you put the same DVD into the player it will go back to the same spot. Handy except when you turn on features such as commentary that can't be turned off!

For a free DVD player, try Media Player lite. Another option is the VLC Media player. There is also a nice player called Cliprex DVD Player Professional - the only unprofessional thing about it is that it comes clearly bundled with AdWare/Spyware. They clearly state this, and once installed, decent anti-spyware programs can remove the mess.
