Here is what I have picked up about how to run an active forum.
1. You have to advertise on places that are the same as yours. So if you have a sports forum do not go and adversites on a Cartton Forum to to another sports forum.
2. Offer a lot os short term contests. These will really help you site stay pumped. Having say a weekly $5.00 contest is a lot better then having a monthly $50 contest. It says you money and it is also better because it makes your members happy because more of them will win.
3. Always answer questions and sugestions. These are the first 2 forums that you should check every time that you go and log on to your forum. THey are the two most important to keep your members happy and posting.
4. Have a good Support team. Behind every great forum there are a lot of people. you wnat to have a really good moderation team and and admins to answer questions and keep spam at a low rate.
5. Hire Promoters. Promoters can really get your forum going. you do not need to pay them much but pay them a little biut more then you pay avearge users for promoting people. This will keep them happy and you will see your site grow.
6. Hire posters. You DO NOT need to go and hire a service but if you have extra credits at another ofrum use them to send some people over to your site.
