Ban Smoking in Pubs/Public Places?

What do you think of the plans to ban smoking in Pubs over here in the UK?
I think it has already happened in alot of places in the US...how did it go? Is life better now? lol
I'm kinda against, and kinda for...I think it's good healthwise for the smokers, but I don't think it's good for the econemy. And what about the families that might suffer when the smokers decide to stay home and smoke all over them? And I also don't see how it will change anything. I mean, people that usually go in pubs smoke anyway, or at least don't mind the smoke, otherwise they would go to a family pub with food etc...

But would banning smoking in pubs make you want to go to the pub?
I mean, that's another downside really...if more people feel happy to go to the pub then more families will go and some kids may get an unhealthy mentality that it is good to go to pubs and drink alcohol. Would this just cause more heavy drinkers and spawn the next generation of alcoholics?

LOL...
It's strange how most smokers actually want to give up, whether to save them money, save their health or whatever.
Everyone can do it if they just stop smoking! My Mum stopped smoking years and years ago, and she didn't even use patches...she just gave up. Full stop.
I'll never smoke (or I have no plans to anyway) so i'll have about £300,000+ more money than you smokers! lol.

It has happened here (In Delaware) and I personally like it. It helps me, having asthma, breath better and not worry about waiting extra time for a "Non Smoking" table in a restaurant.

I live in New York where smoking is banned in all public buildings or reserved areas. So basicly pushing all the smokers outside. As it is nice in some places like getting food etc. It does hurt some of the business that they do.
