Important Information Reguarding Accounts

on the reseller domain i had absolutely nothing...specially for security purposes...erm nothing - 404 error...so beats me how did he managed to get in!
on the other sites i used simple html, one had an Ipb and 2 wordpress, but there was no clue there to lead to the reseller user or password

I seriously don't understand either how this guy managed to do this. I don't quite think this could be blamed on the host due to our forum passwords and cpanel passwords not having much of a link between the two but I can't help wonder how this has happened. SHAdmin still hasn't posted on here about this, maybe he is looking into it and wanting to get a better grasp of things before giving our accounts back to prevent this from happening again. I am slightly irritated with the lack of customer support on this though, a simple rollback would be quite fine enough to change our passwords and figure this out... I was working on a big project and need hosting to complete it and also need my old files to check between a couple things for clearance.. I guess I will just wait until it's resolved. Please SHAdmin, give us something to hope for.

Yes, i got hacked. The index file was replaced with another index file which was saying "You got hacked" by a group of israelish people. My account was suspended due to lack of security. I havent got any date or something when it will be unsuspended and im still waiting for the PM i sent SHAdmin to be answered.

Well I will make sure to let SHAdmin know that your account didn't potentially cause a security risk, I think I read up on it and he ended up warning about posting it on the forums. This may not be good publicity but it does show that it's human. We get hacked just like the rest of the people out there, and I guarentee I get a word about my language but ohwell. I just want my damn account back and I ain't seen SHAdmin on since I realized I didn't have my account anymore... this is rediculous.

Yes, if he just could get on here and tell us whats happend and what is happening. He has not been on this board for about 3 days now, I mean. Cant be that hard just to get on and write some lines, that would calm down the people here. Your account didnt get suspended, right? The password is incorrect, yes? I got that too first, but then he suspended it because the "lack" of security, but since vbulletin is pretty safe, i didnt really understand. Lets wait until he gets on here and get us up-to-date about this before we start blaming someone.

I'm not blaming anyone, the Internet is a very unsafe place as it is and nothing can be 100% safe. I'm normally running Nuke Evolution which is php scripted with phpbb forums and Nuke Sentinel which naturally catches hackers and prevents then from getting any access to my website. Now when they get access to cpanel to mess up everything that is a bit different and would therefore change the parameters of the attempt. When someone hacks forums they normally get admin rights on the forums itself... never do they get Cpanel rights... even if they managed to get your ftp information it should still be damn near impossible to gain access to the cpanel password. Nuke Evo, Phpbb, VB Forums all have a database.php file which holds and store your database information... I've always thought this out to be somewhat non-obtainable to the general public but either way it goes even if this guy randomly picked websites mine would still of been pretty hard to find. Anyone know the Admin's number? I'll give him a ring lol.

My accounts got restored last night...not all the sites are working 100% tough and hte backup is from 7th october

Exactly, you cant acces the cPanel from the forum or FTP. Im not saying you are the one blaming someone, im not talking to a specific person, just to clear it up, that was to everyone. I hope he gets on and tell where we are soon, so we can get on with our websites.

The 7th of October is still kind of a good ways back. I didn't get hacked until around a week ago. I suppose to get your account back you have to do the Live Chat things and that doesn't go to Smokyhosts... it's ran by the company he sells for. And if no one knows he sells for another company... then I feel sorry for you. It's a huge process, one company buys from another company who sells to a different company who does the same... Prices vary pretty slightly so no one really see's the major problems, but for people who host their own servers they charge a much lower or higher rate.

I'll try to get my account rolled back but would still be nice for SHAdmin to handle this himself.. would be sweet.

Oh, thats pretty long ago. They should save backups at least every 15 days or so. Well, we cant do much more then wait until SHAdmin gets on here.
