Uptime

Post by ejc »

I have a reseller account with SmokyHosts and am very concerned with the uptime in the past few weeks. It has had bad downtime levels ever since I have joined, but I could live with it. Recently though, it has been going down just about every day for hours on end and it is totally unacceptable. 98% of free hosts have better uptime than this and here I am paying for this poor service.

I am on the lts1.smokyhosts.net server (72.36.161.165), so I don't know if that is just a dud server. Because the uptime report you link to doesn't seem to be so bad, however I can guarantee my uptime is much worse than this. I have had my friend monitoring his site on my account over the past few days, I will get his link when he comes online next time.

Is there any reason for all this downtime or is Smokyhosts just a poor excuse for a web host where I am wasting my time and money? In other words, are you going to resolve this or should I take my business elsewhere?

Sorry for the downtime that you had been facing on the server lts1 since the past one week or so....

Initially there was one user who had messed up with the dns records of the server, so first cleaning up that caused the downtime.
Then the server began to report crazy kernel panics, but then it was diagnosed to be because of fualty RAM. RAM had been changed today morning, and now onwards you should be able to expect to have a perfectly working server with best uptime.

Sorry for any inconvinience the downtimes would have caused.

Well we got almost 2 weeks of uptime, now down again. it is frustrating being down for hours at a time. whenever my dreamhost account goes down, it takes a minute not 12 hours.

Sorry for that downtime of 3 hours, we had to identify and clear out the cause of that problem which caused the downtime before we bring the server again online so that such even doesnt happen again.
