probably you should install fresh wordpress and some additional components if you used in old host and update you MySQL database with data from old host. Maybe it will work (i never migrated wordpress before)

it's not realy easy to make php based socket server. You wont do it on regular web server, there is required special configuration. maybe you want to create it in "php-gtk" development system?

joomla/mambo has users managemet system (if i get what you need)
